Dimensions of Sprocket

Sprockets could be classified into typical sprockets, HK sprockets along with other sprockets.
1. Conventional sprocket
Conventional sprockets are ANSI sprockets which could be engaged with normal series roller chains. See P125 for dimensions.
You will find two kinds of tooth profiles: U-tooth and S-tooth.
2. HK sprocket
HK sprockets could be engaged with HK series roller chains, and those for single strand chains are identical to conventional sprockets. However, sprockets for many strand chains are various from conventional sprockets in sprocket tooth profile.
3. Other sprockets
Other sprockets are developed according to the following calculation formulas to suit respective specialty chains.
The sprockets applied for the following chains will be the identical because the regular sprockets in tooth gap type, but distinct in tooth thickness (sprocket tooth profile).
4. Calculation of sprocket dimensions
The dimensions of common sprockets together with other common sprockets are calculated as follows. Initially, the diameters of sprockets are calculated from the following calculation formulas.
Upcoming, sprocket tooth profile (the shape with the tooth depending on its thickness) is calculated in the following calculation formulas. (The values proven within the following pages were calculated by these formulas and regarded as the common values.)
Calculation formulas for diameters and tooth gap types Calculation formulas for diameters
Calculation of pitch diameter, tip diameter and caliper diameter
The fundamental dimensions of a sprocket appropriate to get a chain pitch of one mm are respectively referred to as pitch diameter component, tip diameter component and caliper diameter component. The respective factors for respective numbers of teeth are listed below. If these aspects are multiplied by chain pitch, the essential dimensions of your corresponding sprocket can be obtained.
Example:
In the situation of 80 (25.40 mm pitch) with 35 teeth Pitch diameter (Dp) = P×Pitch diameter aspect
Calculation formulas for tooth gap varieties
As the most rational tooth gap forms through which the stress angle alterations in response on the elongation of the smoothly rotated roller chain with all the lapse of services time, ANSI specify two kinds of tooth profiles: U-type and S-type. Normally, S-type tooth profiles are adopted in accordance with ANSI, and our conventional sprockets also have S-tooth profiles.
